Master of Science (M.Sc) in Zoology

The Applied Zoology Programme is divided into two parts. The first part provides the theoretical and practical training that enables the student to master the detail principles of animal biology and the second part mainly equips the student either in human animal physiology or in entomology. In this programme, the student will study life phenomena at all levels, from molecules to cellulular with special emphasis on the human body. The major focus of Animal Physiology is on the analysis of different aspects of the functions of biological molecules, organisms and entities. The techniques and methodologies of Animal Physiology have wide applications in the biological, medical and related sciences. Human physiologists for example work in Universities, industries, Medical Centres/Colleges, Research Institutes, Government Organizations etc. In entomology, the student will be able to identify the ecological habitats and niches factors of the environment affecting the development of insects, determine the population dynamics, community and biodiversity of animals; diversity and adaptive features of insects; identification and systematics. The Applied zoology student will be able to explain molecular evolution, phylogenetic and natural selection of organisms. Attention is paid to application of Zoological concepts to improve human and animal health, increase agricultural products and their conservation, and enhance environmental management. The candidate will be able of Initiating and conducting innovative research in Animal Physiology or Entomology.

Duration: 2 years
